History
The privately owned company's headquarters are in New York City, with 25 additional offices worldwide, including Silicon Valley, London and Chennai, Hyderabad, India. Founded by David A. Steinberg and John Sculley, Zeta was built to capitalize on major shifts to the Advertising and Marketing industries with the rise of Big Data; the emergence of more sophisticated methods of data mining and analytics, the use of Mobile technologies and the trend toward sophisticated data-driven marketing by advertising firms.

The company's set of Data, Email, Social, Search and Mobile solutions are used by Middle Market and Fortune 500 brands. With more 1200 employees worldwide, the company has grown through acquisitions of technologies like Adchemy in November, 2013 to access that Company's patented Machine Learning technology, and Clicksquared in January, 2014 to access its Gartner-rated cross-channel marketing automation technology, and changes in its business model.
In July 2015, the company raised $125 million from Blackstone's GSO Capital Partners to grow its business through acquisitions of data startup companies. The company has been referred to as a 'Unicorn,' a "billion-dollar startup".
Zeta considers its approach to data-driven marketing, Precision Marketing, and it has been highlighted in articles and white papers.

Activities and Events
On January 30, 2014, Zeta Interactive hosted a forum on the changes in advertising and marketing over the years, using Apple's 1984 commercial as a benchmark. Sculley shared the panel with advertising executive David Sable, Global CEO of Young & Rubicam; Jessica Gelman, Vice President of Customer Marketing & Strategy; The Kraft Group--the owners of the New England Patriots; and Hooman Radfar, Chairman and Co-Founder of marketing firm AddThis.
In 2016, Zeta announced that while it always had teams in India, it was no looking to selling its platform in India. To date India employees have largely been engineers working on the technology used for the platforms sold elsewhere.The company employs about 500 in Hyderabad alone, 78% with graduate degrees.
